Delete your Bay Area Shine account

You can delete your account at any time, for free. This works for both apps: Bay Area Shine (customers) and Bay Area Shine Crew (cleaners).

In the app (fastest)

• Customers: Account › Privacy › Delete my account, then enter the code we send you.
• Cleaners: Me › Privacy & safety › Delete my account, then enter the code we send you.

Without the app

Email hello@bayareashinecleaners.com from the email address on your account, with the subject "Delete my account". We'll reply to confirm it's you, then delete it as described below. You don't need to reinstall the app.

Before you delete

• Booked cleans and plans: please cancel them in the app first (Cleans, and Account › My plan). The usual terms apply, and a cancelled plan's unused cleans are refunded to your card. If a clean is less than 48 hours away, you can delete your account once it's done; message us if you need to change it.
• Money owed: an unpaid balance or tip for a clean that's already been done is still due.
• Cleaners: jobs you're booked on go to another cleaner (a late drop follows the usual rules). Pay you've earned is still paid by Bay Area Shine, as usual.

What's deleted

Straight away: app notifications stop, your phone for calls is removed, and your name is taken off our call records (the other person keeps only the time and length of the call; every call record is deleted 90 days after the call).

If you've never had a clean with us (or, for cleaners, never done a job), your account and everything in it is deleted automatically.

If you have, the owners finish the deletion by hand and email you when it's done, within 45 days of your request. We delete:

• your name, contact details and profile
• your home details, door codes and entry notes
• your messages and photos
• your ratings, reviews and favourites
• the blocks you made
• cleaners: your profile, photo and bio, your home area, and check-in locations

What we have to keep, and why

• Receipts, payments, refunds, payouts and tax forms, for as long as tax and payment laws require. Stripe also keeps its own records under its privacy policy.
• Safety reports about an account, for 2 years after they're closed, so we can keep people safe. Only the owners can see them.
• Anything needed for an open dispute or legal claim, until it's settled.

These records are locked away and used only for those reasons.
